Classes for children and youth
Since its founding in 1944, Avondale has cherished the role of children in the life of the congregation. We provide a range of Christian education activities (including music) for our youngsters.
Sunday School is the cornerstone of the children's program. Each Sunday, a committed group of Christian men and women teach these classes for the 2007-08 church education year:
Ages 2-3
Kindgarten-1st grade
2nd-3rd grades
4th-5th grades
6th-8th grades
9th-12 grades.
Children younger than three years old may attend the nursery or the toddlers' class, where paid workers and volunteers work with the children. Sunday School is from 9:45 a.m.-10:40 a.m. each Sunday (9:00-9:45 in summer).
During the worship service, children ages 6 and above are encouraged to sit with their parents during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services. Children are also encouraged to participate in the service by reading the Old Testament lesson, presenting the Bible, assisting with taking the offering, etc.
