Bell choirs
Avondale has two sets of Marmark bells, with five octaves each. There are three choirs made up of adults and youth:
The Avonbellers: This group was orginally formed in 1988. The Avonbellers participate in church an average of about once a month. The group has been invited to perform at several events in the Carolinas. Most members of the Avonbellers have some music knowledge. Practice is Wednesday evenings.
The Bells on High: This group was formed in 1996. The Bells on High participate in worship about every other month or so. Members who have limited musical knowledge are welcome to join the Bells on High.
Members of the Avonbellers and the Bells on High attend workshops at least two weekends a year.
The Silver Bells: This group is made up of older members. It participates in worship two or three times a year and also performs at senior-citizen events in Charlotte.
