Hosting Mission Groups in Charlotte
Avondale hosts out-of-town workcamps from June-August. We partner with several service agencies in the Charlotte area to provide for meaningful experiences for youth groups. Activities can include:

Tutoring and mentoring children;
Grounds maintenance at local camps;
Local home repair;
Serving meals;
Ministering to the homeless.

Groups stay in our Family Life Center, which include room for sleeping, a fully equipped kitchen, basketball court, and showers for men and women. Cost is $25 per person per day (including meals) or $15 per day (excluding meals).

In general, workdays run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and can range from weekends to week-long stays. Free day activities can include visits to the Carowinds theme park, the National Whitewater Center, Discovery Place science and Imax theater, historic sites, and yes, even shopping malls.
